This was my first time reading a book by Diane Setterfield and I was very pleased. With the arc received there was a lot of reference to her popular book, The Thirteenth Tale. I am now intrigued to go and read that one.

Once Upon a River is a story of stories.

I have to admit that I was confused at first and had to start over after reading the first 80 pages. I don't think that has anything to do with the writing or plot. I went through a bit of a reading slump in November as I tried to read this in time for it's release.

The writing is beautiful and whimsically descriptive of a story of family and love.

I would love to see this book turned into a film. And done by the right director, we could easily immerse ourselves into Diane's breathtaking world.
