When looking at the cover of “Once Upon a River”, one sees a white swan shaped like a winding river. The story takes place along the river Thames in a small pub called The Swan at Radcot. It is here that we meet Margot the pub owner, Joe her husband and storyteller, and Jonathan, their son who is quite peculiar.
Joe was about to tell a great tale when a large man carrying a small object enters the pub and quickly passes out. Jonathan discovers that the object is a lifeless girl.
