Right from the start, we get this beautiful idea of an inn that's the place to go for storytelling. Any reader would love the idea of this inn and it instantly grabs every lover of stories. It's a little ramshackled with three buildings of different times cobbled together under one roof, but it is the perfect setting for Setterfield to begin a cozy fairy tale.

I love Setterfield's voice. It feels like we are all in front of the fire with a pint of ale in The Swan as someone spins this fantastic tale. It feels very much like a fairy tale, like a story that has been passed down by the spoken word for years and years.

It has a little bit of everything: a kind cast of villagers, a mysterious man who arrives in the night, and an enchanting setting. I very much want to continue reading, especially after reading the synopsis. This book promises a folklore filled with magic and science. If that doesn't sound perfect, what does?
