When I was a teen my mother gave me The Crystal Cave by Mary Stewart. I've read that book dozens of times. My love of historical fiction with a fantasy component began then. Once Upon A River fits that mold. I've had this book on my Goodreads want to read list since I first saw it. The other genre I love is mystery/thriller. This book is everything I look for when choosing a book. Family dynamics, community interaction, mystery, history, suspense, romance and fantasy. What more could you want in a book?
I love the fact that this book pulls history into a fantasy setting. I love to learn when I read. I also love to be entertained and challenged to think. As an avid reader (3 books a week) I am always looking for something that breaks barriers and is outside the norm. This is a novel I can't wait to read.
