This fairy tale of a novel starts with storytelling in the local tavern. A stranger enters the local tavern, half drowned, and is only discovered to still be alive due to movement of a feather on his lips. This stranger had carried what was thought to be a puppet but is soon discovered to be a young girl. With much sadness, it's determined that this young girl is dead. Or is she? And with that, the storytelling really begins.
