This is a retelling of the story of Robin Hood. In England, 1191 the king is away and there are no rules.
It started off very confusing to me, which had me going back to reread chapters to try to understand what is going on. The writing style was wordy. I didn’t get a good feel for the characters or even the setting. It was a darker historical fiction than I am used to. I really wanted to like this retelling of Robin Hood, getting a different perspective of the people, setting, and history of the time period. Unfortunately, this book was not for me. I’m sure for others who are used to the style of writing and who like a darker adventure story, will enjoy this book. This was given to to me as an arc and I am very thankful for the opportunity to try a new book.
