There are many tellings of the story of Robin Hood. It is hard to know what is true history and what is fanciful myth. We need both to understand our history, but it is still difficult to know what happened. The places are real. Many of the people in the stories are real, historical people. This is an attempt to tell a tale as clean of myth as possible.
