I am not sure what I was expecting but Nottingham is Robin Hood retold with a large dose of history thrown in. It reminds me of the detailed historical data that was a hallmark of James Michener. No one would dispute Michener's ability to teach us history while reading fiction, smetimes it was a little too much. This seems to be the case with Nottingham.
