Start seems to give it all away ... or does it?

The stage seems to be set for David, the protagonist, and for the story. A man who apparently cannot die and is tired of living forever wants to change his fate. But David hasn't yet been successful, so he has to move on every ten years or so to keep his longevity a secret. Other novels have dealt with this for many, many years. Will this one be different?

David seems like a good guy, as much as I could tell from the first few pages. I might start to like him as the story progresses - or he might bore me.

David's love of pre-owned books seems natural and could be the genesis of an interesting subplot. Old books remain constant as does David.

I'd like to read more to see where the novel leads me, but would need to find that the storyline takes an unusual and unexpected twist to retain my interest.
