Mixed feelings on this one. I really enjoyed the first half of the book, learning about David and his situation, how he got there, the history behind his life and unraveling the back story. There was decent character development, although I never really connected with any of the characters. Mid-way through the book, it went downhill for me. This is where it got preachy (from my perspective) and started jumping around - I realize this is a Christian fiction book, but the "God parts" and praying were over the top for me, and they felt out of place and just thrown into the story line. Things also just got plain weird for me around chapter 19. Without going into any details or spoilers, this was the point that I just didn't get the direction the story ended up going - I didn't understand why it went that way or what the purpose was. And then it just ended, without any explanation or closure or anything. I'm not sure if it was left so open-ended for a sequel or what, but the ending was just too abrupt for me. So three stars, and barely three stars. There was a lot of potential here, and I think if the story line had gone a different direction, the "preachy" parts might not have bothered me so much.
