I was excited to read to read this book, because I love plots that involve characters who do not age or die. I find the concept fascinating, and this book pulled me in immediately. David Galloway is a man who hasn’t aged in over a century, and he lives a quiet life as a bookstore owner until he discovers he is not the only one. How do otherwise regular human beings handle their immortality? How do they connect with one another and with the mortals who surround them?

I was onboard through half of the novel, but I struggled a bit as the book turned to Stevens’ Christian fiction roots. Had I researched her before I began reading, I would not have been surprised to find David turning to his faith in such an explicit manner. I have never read Christian fiction, and it took some getting used to that never quite seemed to happen. While I appreciated the focus on faith - it is an interesting exploration in terms of living forever - it just was not a focus with which I could identify. I came to like David and the other characters, however, and I’m glad I read the book. It’s not my favorite from this genre, but it’s worth the read.
