I enjoyed the first look at this book a couple of weeks ago, and honestly, I didn't figure out that it was more religious than interesting in and of itself. This book takes on a more supernatural feeling than anything, so I was a bit surprised that it was religious, and frankly, that is where I lost my interest. David's story is interesting in the fact that he stops aging and that there are others like him, but because it was a religious story, I immediately lost interest. I think that this entire story has great potential and it kind of reminds me of the plot (to a point) of the movie Age of Adaline (she also stops aging for a long period of time). However, there was no religious aspect and religious trial she had to overcome. This would be a good book for someone that is interested in religious fiction, but for a realist and for someone who enjoys these kind of stories, I feel that the religious part overtook what could have been an amazing story overall.
