Usually the mix of Fantasy and Christianity results in a Lord of the Rings or Narnia epic, with decidedly un-modern characters. In No Less Days, however, we encounter contemporary characters, albeit with a few secrets that make them not quite like us. There's a mystery to be solved here, as well as a murder, which serve both to keep the plot moving at a nice place and raise questions for the reader and the characters: Why am I here? Why did God make me this way? What is my response to evil in the world, specifically in my community? Readers, including this one, may have some difficulty with the presented answer to that last one, but in fairness, I couldn't think of a better one within the parameters of this story. A good story, I hope this will be the beginning of a series.
