To the book's credit, it doesn't give up its secrets right at the beginning- were it not for the blurb, I wouldn't really know what this book was about yet from the excerpt. I don't think this is my style of story, but what with the intriguing book store setting and the mysterious elements of the story, I can see why it would appeal to readers.
