If you couldn't die, what would you do with your life? If you're David, you open a used bookstore in Michigan. There's lots of lovely lyrical Biblical references, from the title ("We've no less days to sing God's praise/ Than when we'd first begun") to the references of Simon Peter being freed by angels, and it suggests this might be a meaty philosophical and religious look at what it would mean to be someone who couldn't die. There's lots of unanswered questions in the sample: where does David go for two weeks every October? What is it about the daredevil from the Grand Canyon that makes David think he's like him? Why does he hate the smell of smoke? and I can't wait to find out the answers to them!
