Nightbirds by Kate J. Armstrong was a refreshing fantasy read. Initially, I was drawn in by the cover itself, and then I had the opportunity to read the First Impression through Bookish First. At that point, I was officially hooked.

The world-building was excellent, the magical system was intriguing, the girls had diverse personalities, the secondary characters made the story even more interesting; it was well-done all around. I am looking forward to more perspective from another key player, and really, I wouldn't be opposed to the POVs from some of the secondary characters.

I was thoroughly engaged throughout the book, and I can't wait for the next installment. I really want to delve further into Simta and the different Quarters, but I also anticipate learning more about the Illan Isles, and heck, the rest of the Eudean Republic as well.
