I absolutely enjoyed this story and its premise (loved the uniqueness)! Love that it's set in the Roaring 20s (1920s). I was completely immersed in this fantasy world and its magic system (couldn't put this book down). Forbidden magic is one of my favorite tropes. The writing style is run right up my ally (beautifully written). The characters are well developed and likeable. Adored the sisterly dynamic between Matilde, Aesa, and Sayer (love them all). I had no problems with the pacing. The world building is fantastic. I need to know more about the characters and their world. Excited for the sequel of this young adult book series. Love that a map was included. The cover is gorgeous! Will definitely recommend this charming book (will read more from this author in the future).
