When I say I waited years to have this book in my hands that is no exaggeration, and it was worth every moment of the wait. This lush and vivid world will sweep you away with it's magic, it's politics, and it's people.
The characters are instantly cared about, and all three have such different views of the world they live in that it makes the world seem real and large by the end of the first three chapters.
If only I'd had more free time to read this the second it was in my hands! I would have devoured it in a day, I'm sure!
No spoilers, but this story speaks to something primal inside all of us. That thread that's been passed down over the centuries from woman to woman, that internal feminine rage we all feel even when we have supportive men in our lives. These girls--Matilde, Sayer, and Æsa--are different, yet all of us all at once. Or at least, they are the very many parts of me.
I cannot wait for book 2.
