The cover is the first attention grabber. You don't realize how distinctive it is to the plot until you start reading. The magical underworld of transferable magic in a place that claims magic is illegal is just icing on the cake. This gave off the atmosphere of a mixture of glitzy flapper days and Regency feminine requirements. I love when powerful heroine characters shirk the outdated rules of being 'property' and fitting a required role to pass on wealth or, in this case, their powers. This novel is quickly pulling on those wonderful plot strings. I'm utterly here for it!

The inclusion of little excerpts between chapters is an excellent touch. The ritualistic portions of the Caske, the fight for freedom, the truth behind the magic... I have a feeling Armstrong is going to bring more than just atmosphere and character depth to the table. I cannot wait to see where this beauty leads.
