After reading the teaser blurb, I had some doubts about Nightbirds, but I'm willing to read a few chapters to see if I'm being harsh. While there's definitely some action and intrigue from the beginning, I'm just not interested in stories where fantasy worlds are built around misogyny. I imagine over the course of the book, each of the Nightbirds will show incredible intellect, bravery, loyalty, and strength within some notion of sisterhood. I expect that fans of fantasy and YA fantasy will enjoy this more than me.
