I was intrigued by the prohibition-era-esque fantasy setting where magic is technically illegal but still thriving through certain channels. It gave the setting a unique and rich character. I'm interested to learn more about how the three main characters, who all have different backgrounds and world views interact with each other and the world as the plot picks up.
