Honestly, YA Fantasy is not a genre that I usually gravitate to. I find the characters and plots are, at times, difficult to follow. However, that was not the case with Kate J. Armstrong's novel, "Nightbirds". This story had me captivated from the prologue on page one to the end of chapter two on page sixty four. From the first character, Lord Maylon, who has heard whispers of how the Nightbirds will change his fortune. His is willing to steal and give up his deepest, darkest secrets for the chance to spend time with one of the Nightbirds. To Matilda, her brother Samson and their housemate AEsa. The characters are intriguing and the plot enthralling. Ms. Armstrong has the ability to fascinate her readers!
