I really enjoyed this book. I was first drawn in by Kaylee's struggle with with always being "fine" and always feeling that she had to be the strong one, as that's something that I've always felt as well - though obviously not in such a dramatic "mother was an Olympian and I'm training to be an Olympian as well" sort of way. But it does wear you down when you don't always feel that you can let yourself be vulnerable or be the one who can break down.

While there was that thread throughout the book, it was a light and fun read. The bond between the families felt authentic, and most of the banter felt realistic as well. The authors truly transported me to the beach house in Malibu and immersed me in the Southern California scenery and vibe, which is not always easy to do in a fun YA romance, as many tend to be superficial.

Overall, if you're looking for a fun and heartwarming beach read, I'd highly recommend Never Vacation With Your Ex.
