I think the issue most people have with Kaylee being unlikable is that she is trying so hard to keep the perfect face in all facets of her life (mostly being the best in volleyball), meaning that her heart has to remain out of bounds at all times but still be carefree for the cameras and internet trolls who have nothing better to do . That being said, I got very frustrated at her and her decisions. Dean was good though also had his own issues. Their parents acted like teenagers (I know my parents would not talk that way about my relationships) and the people I liked best ended up being Dean's sisters, Jessie and Lucy, who were real but not totally annoying. It was fun to read about mermaid day and game night and Mamma Mia forever!
I read till the end mostly because (and I knew it was coming) I wanted to see how Dean and Kaylee fixed the mess they were in with their feelings and get back together. I did like how it took place mostly at the beach and now I want to go to the beach too!
