I typically enjoy YA Romances, but this excerpt just wasn't a good fit for me. The writing focused too much on descriptions and backstory as opposed to actively telling the story. I wasn't attached to the characters, and found the main character to be a little annoying. Granted, hopefully she will grow throughout the course of the novel, but sadly I don't plan on reading the rest of this book. That being said, I appreciate the use of the friends-to-lovers trope as opposed to the overdone enemies-to-lovers.
