The book has a fun, lighthearted feel, even though it centers around a breakup. The voice feels fresh and authentic to a teen, particularly the part about her being flabbergasted that her parents would continue their long tradition of a summer vacation with friends, despite the fact she has recently broken up with the son of the family. It promises drama, banter, hopefully lots of California beach scenes, and maybe a friends to lovers to enemies to lovers again? One can only hope!
