This cover and synopsis held a lot of promise for me - a teenage girl who longs to be seen as more than her most predominate feature, her chest, and feels that disappearing into the background is the best way to survive high school. However, I felt like this book dragged on. Perhaps if I identified with Greer’s personal struggles more I could have found high points in this novel. I did enjoy Greer’s relationship with Jackson, which were the scenes that held my attention the most. I was most excited for the volleyball scene but after meeting all the teammates and going through the season, everything about the sports component of this novel was stereotypical or typical tropes. I will say. My students would probably love this book, and that’s the lens I try to read young adult books. So this will live on my classroom bookshelf in the hopes that Greer’s story helps one of my teens feel seen!
