Laura Zimmermann's writing reminds me a lot of Meg Cabot and Megan McCafferty, who were the queens of YA fiction when I was in middle/high school. Her novel, My Eyes Are Up Here, is a well-written contemporary story with some fantastic characters. Greer, the narrator, is witty and funny and a little self-conscious, but with a ton of personality. It's shaping up (no pun intended) to be a great YA coming-of-age story.
