Jane Tennison is a great character. I had to say it. She's strong and so very smart. I absolutely adore crime thrillers and Lynda La Plante does such a great job in this book!
The fact that it is set in the 70s adds another layer of uniqueness to the story. There's the unique setting and the fact that there is British slang int he writing that makes it unlike most books I usually read. I can hardly remember the last contemporary book that I read that wasn't set in present day, but I feel like I enjoyed this book well enough.
I have not read the other Tennison books, but I feel like I understood this book well enough and enjoyed it either way! If I have time I might read the first three. I'm not super committed to the series as of this moment.
