I haven’t read the other three books in the series, and I did not feel as if I was left in the dark at any point, so I believe this works well as a standalone. The author is apparently quite popular, and she is very talented at building a good detective story as well as fleshing out the characters. The book certainly kept me guessing.
I liked how the story started off with well-spoken police officers; however,my opinion quickly changed when they started using the f word and the Lord’s name as a curse word. How sad that the author turned them into stereotypical police officers who can’t run into problems without swearing. Some people may not like that there are homosexual males and plenty of comments that made fun of homosexuals.
