Once again, I'm late to the game, as this is the fourth in a series and I haven't read the previous titles. However, this doesn't really detract from the story at hand, as it is well written and easy to follow.

Murder Mile picks up with Jane Tennison's story in February of 1979 after she has been promoted to Sargent. It is interesting to watch Tennison evolve and mature in her profession that in this time period was very much a man's job.

One flaw, if you will, may be that Jane is very ambitious, which leaves little time for a personal life and further maturing of her character beyond her profession. I hope that this matter is addressed in further novels, as I think that would make it easier for some readers to accept her and relate to.

I enjoyed this title very much, and I will be looking forward to starting from the beginning while we await further publications.
