I'm not a big fan of the mystery and thriller genres, but after reading the synopsis, it piqued my interest because it's set in the 1970s. I am a fan of historical fiction and would be interested in reading a good mystery set in the past. However, after reading the excerpt, I don't plan to read this particular mystery. The writing felt too sparse and the dialogue felt unnatural.
