I’m not a fan of the author’s writing style. It feels jilted, overly detailed, and uses filters. Here are a few examples of her writing that pulled me out of the story:

* The first and second sentences of the story contain the word “recently”. The repetition stands out.
* “He was so tall” (and other wording throughout) could be stronger.
* Although I read the tension, I didn’t feel the tension.
* The dialogue didn’t sound authentic, but I’ll chalk that up to British speak. (The setting is London.)

The murder is intriguing, but I’m distracted by the writing style too many times to fully sink into and become a part of the story. Perhaps this style is customary for mysteries and thrillers (not my preferred genres) but it just doesn’t satisfy my taste.
