It took me a few chapters to really get into the book. I think it has the making to be a great novel, but I don't think I am the target audience. I was hooked when I read the sneak peek, but after I got further in I go bored.

I wish that the pacing of the book was more consistent, because the middle felt like it took forever. I love the concept of dual perspectives, with the idea that the perspectives connect in some way towards the end. For me, it never fully felt like the two perspectives connected.

Overall I wanted to love the character Mrs. Plansky, but her enabling behavior toward her family ruined her for me. That, combined with the amount of blind privilege, had me rooting for the scammers.

I plan on trying to re-read this book later when I am in a different headspace. As of right now, this is not a book I would really recommend or read again. I'm hoping after a second read, that I'll change my mind.
