A book featuring a senior citizen as the main character, and one who is strong and plucky and not afraid to take on an adventure to get back what's hers...we need more books like this one! At times the plot seemed a little unrealistic, but that did not diminish my enjoyment one bit. It's so upsetting to think of senior citizens being taken advantage of in this way, and yet this book created a narrative in which the main character still has the ability to stand up for herself rather than being made to feel ashamed for making a foolish mistake. I also felt like the relationship that Mrs. Plansky had with her children and grandchildren was (unfortunately at times) pretty realistic. A sweet (if upsetting at times) story, great characters, fun adventures, and such a good example of how creativity and courage go a long way to making things right.
