I was intrigued by the premise of an older woman, retired, who would seek revenge. That thought sold me on the story.

In the book, we meet Mrs Lansky, Loretta, who is no old lady. She's widowed, retired, and does well playing tennis. She also oversees the care of her 98 year old feisty dad. The children and grandchildren leave a bit to be desired as they are greedy and seem to be only interested in her money.

That sets the story for the scam we have all heard of, the late night call from a grandchild needing money. And yes, it's no spoiler to say that Loretta falls for it. Where things go from there are what make her unique and hard to say no to.

On the other side, we meet the scammers, who include a very likeable young man named Dinu, Romeo and the bully uncles and others who run the scams. You will feel a bit sorry for Dinu and Romeo, or at least I did.

The story turns adventurous with some fun twists, turns and people who do not give up.

I very much enjoyed the author's writing and characters. This is a winner.
