A nice and charming story, and a great book club read, as advertised. The book revolves around the titular character, Mrs. Plansky, a widow who has been scammed out of her life savings. She decides to take matters into her own hands and see what she could do about that.

Mrs. Plansky herself is a relatable character with a distinct voice, who I enjoyed following throughout the story. Her observations are both hilarious and insightful, and I loved that she's secretly quite sassy. It's refreshing reading from the PoV of an older protagonist, I thought that was done well.

Since the story is about elderly financial scams, I was curious how dark the tone would be. Overall I would say the author kept it pretty light. We're told, but don't really feel, the consequences of Mrs. Plansky's financial predicament. And of course everything is resolved neatly, certain plot points definitely felt far-fetched to me and required a large dose of suspension of disbelief.

I thought the inclusion of the scammer's perspective was really interesting, and wished the story had explored that angle more in depth.

Overall, a perfectly serviceable escapist read.
