Mona's passage, when I read the first impression provided by BookishFirst, sounded pretty interesting. The whole idea of this story has a real world type of feel to it. Where the characters face ethnic issues and have to come to terms with them and with each other. I admit, this is not really the type of book I would normally go and grab off my shelf to read. BUT because it was so kindly given to me I went ahead and gave it a go.
The cover has a dark 'man's' feel to it. I guess because of the ship on it. Again, not my typical book of choice.
I did read a few chapters. And I do know that sometimes it can take awhile before a book 'picks up'. I did my best to wait for that to happen. However, for me, it did not. I did not relate to the characters and could just not get into the plot. I truly feel this book was just not for me. I do not think it has anything to do with the story or the author. It's not you, it's me.
