Churned up a lot of feelings
I really didn't know that I would like this book. The plot seemed intriguing but to be honest I hated the cover of the book ( I know you can never judge a book by its cover) and its not something that I would normally pick out at the store. That being said I was was rather surprised when this turned out to be one that I couldn't put down.
It was a hearbreaking and moving experience from the beginning. What I liked most about it was that it gave me new insights on some problems that exist in the world today. I never realized some of the things people have to go through and are willing to go through in order to get to America. I never realized how easily in modern day society people are able to lose their humanity. Personally I believe that every person deserves to live in peace and safety. I liked that Pat was a conflicted character who grew and it was really convincing to go through what he does.
Overall I say you should go for this book if you're thinking about it. I'm thankful I got the chance to read this insightful novel.
