First the cover - I love how the cover had a minimalistic feel but spotlighted the boat in light of the immigration/refugee topic of the book.
Second the plot/first impression - I loved the characters, I loved Galan the most - showcasing his values of family first before anything and how protective he was of his sister, overall his character was written very well. Pat was written greatly as well, both sides of his persona conflicting and making the plot as great as it was.
