I think the book started off strong with Galan's perspective where we were instantly in a high-stakes situation. The intense imagery and confusion really set the atmosphere of chaos and fear. Though once the pov switched to Pat, I felt more disengaged with the story. It could be because we don't know much about him yet, but I hope the story doesn't just try to westernize and simplify Galan's storyline for the sake of furthering Pat's character development.
