This book caught my eye by the cover first. As I was able to read the sample, I knew this was going to be a book I enjoyed. I am a big fan of historical books, and while this one is not too long ago, it describes the time period well. I am dying to know more about what everyone was seeing, and having it from a little boy’s perspective is sure to make it heartbreaking.
The characters and details of the characters was perfect. It didn’t overly describe them or their surroundings, but it gave enough detail to paint a picture in my mind. I’m curious as to why the little boy is calling his grandfather “Daddy”, but I’m assuming that was normal for the time period or that the author will go into it further. I’m excited to read this book!
