I really wanted to love it
I couldn't get into this book as much as I thought I would. I loved the excerpt that I read before getting this book and I had been looking forward to seeing what would happen next. But I couldn't really enjoy it much beyond that point.
I felt as though the abundance of romances and the overwhelming religious references were distracting. If the main goal is supposed to be finding out what happened to a friend, I think focus on more than one romance is excessive. And I felt smothered by the religious talk. Yes, a little religion can enrich a story, but any religious stuff that doesn't advance the plot is excessive, regardless of what the religion is. My final complaint is that I kept getting thrown out of the story with all of the point of view changes, some of which I couldn't tell whose perspective it was from.
