Wonderful debut novel from an amazing new author. I will definitely read more of her books. So much pain and heartache. Can only imagine how bad prejudices were back in the 1960’s in Alabama and all over the south. It is still going on today. Loved learning about Alabama through Pete’s eyes. So many surprises and twists and turns, definitely a page turner. Love her style of writing, made for a seamless read. Wanted to spend as much time with these characters as I could. Was sad when I got to the end of the book. Thanks Bookishfirst for my free review copy. I plan to share this one with my mom. I think she really will enjoy it like I did.
