This book isn't my usual chosen genre, but the excerpt was so intriguing, I thought I'd give it a shot. I ended up enjoying this book for the most part, though sadly not as much as I thought I would based on my First Impression of it. The cover is very pretty and I think it captures the spirit of the novel. "Missing Isaac" was a nice read, and the author is obviously talented.

I do wish the story had focused a little more on Isaac himself, and the mystery of his disappearance, rather than that character and story seemingly fading to the background as other plot lines and characters emerged. The other plot lines were interesting, but they overshadowed what I thought was supposed to be the main plot. I would still recommend this book to people who like coming of age stories, or stories set in this era.
