Awesome debut novel about the pre civil rights 1960's
In 1960's Alabama, eleven year old Pete loses his father and befriends Isaac, his father's fishing buddy. Isaac is black, Pete is white but both are colorblind. Unfortunately, not everyone is and Isaac goes missing. Pete becomes determined to find his friend. He already lost one father, he's not about to lose another father figure. His journey takes him through the town of Glory, Alabama and changes him forever.
Interesting characters and a fascinating plot from a period in our history that changed the landscape of America. Hopefully we have learned from the past and will not repeat it.
In light of the current political climate, this is a story that can remind us to remember the "good old days" may not be so great after all.
