I would probably rate this book at a 3.5
I loved the characters in this book. I was initially drawn to it because of the cover. It made me think of "The Andy Griffith Show" with the little boy and the fishing rod. I anticipated it to be a down-home type read, but there was also some sadness to it. I love that the characters interact and learn that people aren't always what they perceive them to be. Pete overcomes a lot through his relationships with the other characters who all offer him something in that learning process. I love the relationship that blossoms between Pete and Dovey. This book will make you laugh at times but you will also definitely tear up too. I think it's a great book for anyone that loved "The Help." Happy reading!
