A sweet, sweet story that focuses on Pete and Dovey, two children that meet while living in a small community in Alabama in the 1960's. Of course, the story centers around a man that goes missing by the name of Issac, but it really is a story about family, friends and love. Race plays a part of the story because it was just part of the landscape of the South in the 60's, but it's not only a racial novel. We watch Pete and Dovey grow up and fall in love as their families are intertwined with each other. It was nice to remember how it was when life was much more innocent.

This is a debut by an author that has written for Southern Living, and you can tell she is the real deal. I mean!
