Not sure what I think , I think it could be a lot of things, like did I Isaac try to save the man , before they got the family to come help, Is that how he was soak and wet? or was he wet from sweating while he worked? Maybe the water noise was from a nutral spring, and that is how the sink hole came to be, and the water shot up as they turned the cotton picker machine upright. a lot to think about until we read the whole book.
