This past week I watched Memphis Burning and this book reminds me of that movie. As the nation struggles to move forward from the past, reminders like this book, Missing Issac, are needed to develop our own values and human kindness for situations we may not understand because we have not lived through those experiences. I was disgusted by the hatred the people in Memphis Burning had for their fellow community members all because they had a different skin color.
I truly believe that looking back helps to move forward. I think that all forward movement comes from understanding and I would love to read this book to understand better what my fellow Americans have gone through and what still affects them today and the ways we can fix the still lingering hatred of today.
